DIY Mormon Mom/ Mom On The Go Planner Cover

Like any girl I like to accessorize, and change things up. One thing that I have wanted is a way to change the cover of my Mormon Mom Planner. I get bored easily, and just needed it to look different. I bought <gasp> an Erin Condren Life Planner because I craved new looks. I have since amended my ways since discovering how to make your own cover. I am so excited to share how I made mine, and to let you know what I've learned with this first go around.

What you need:
  • Scissors
  • Paper trimmer (optional)
  • 1/8th hole puncher
  • Mormon Mom Planner Ruler, or original cover.
  • Laminator (optional, if you take to a store you can have it laminated there)
  • 4 Laminating pouches (I used 3 or 5 mil and double laminated; I'd suggest a 10 mil)
  • Vis a vis marker (dry erase works too)
  • Ruler
  • Printer
  • Computer
Pretty much the process is as follows:

  1. Find an image be it a picture, something you created, or pretty much anything (if you want double sided find 4 images)
  2. Print pictures.
  3. Cut picture to size: 32 cm (height) by 15 cm (width).
  4. Place front and back of front cover in laminating sheet.
  5. Put through laminator (make sure laminator has warmed up, and is ready to go).
  6. Put another laminating sheet over what was laminated and do it again.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6 for back cover.
  8. Cut leaving 1 cm of lamination to the left of image for the front cover. Leave 1 cm of lamination on the right side for the back cover.
  9. Using an Mormon Mom Planner ruler mark where the holes will need to be punched with your vis a vis marker. I used an Erin Condren insert instead since I don't have a MMP ruler yet.
  10. Punch holes with 1/8th hole puncher where marks are made.
  11. With scissors cut from left to hole punch. Finish for length needed.
  12. Take cover, and using scissors push each nob between rings, and voila your cover is on. (Repeat steps 9-11 for back cover).

*I have learned that now I'll use a 10 mil laminating pouch because doubling on lamination causes the nobby things that attach to the planner to separate, and it isn't all it could be.

Mormon Mom Planner Review

One thing I am obsessed with is PLANNERS. I have been looking for a great way to be organized, and ready for everything. As a new mom I've had to multi-task appointments, to do lists, and even a job.

Luckily I am down to my favorite profession of being a stay at home mom. Anyway, I'd been looking for a way to schedule everything I have to do, and remain sane with all of the things that have been thrown my way. About a year ago I discovered the Mormon Mom Planner. No matter what I always seem to come back to this planner, and I just love using it.

As an LDS Mom this planner fit the bill, and it has been exactly what I need. I'll just go through and highlight all the reasons I love this planner.

1. Cover is sturdy plastic, and it has cute designs. Coil is metal, and pages do not snag!

2. Excellent customer service. I have been so impressed how the creator, and her husband try to make their customers happy. I accidentally went too early to pick up my planner, and it wasn't ready. The store I was supposed to pick up my planner at contacted Ryan and I was given their home address to come pick it up (a minute or so away). When I picked it up I was given a set of the stickers she makes.  I chatted and was very impressed with him.

3. Cost is $34.95. That's the cheapest planner I've seen for all that it offers.

4. Tons of room to write.

5. Colorful, and has designs. If you like to use washi tape, and personalize your planner you can. If you happen to not like that then the designs that the planner has will please you.

6. Comes with a TON of extras. There's a FHE page, daily checklist, monthly calendar, weekly calendars, budgeting page, Sunday note-taking page, Church lesson schedule, holiday planning for Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving, and so much more!

7. Paper is thick. I am able to use pens without them bleeding through.

8. Ink on pages is smudge proof. Even when I use my Frixion pens the ink doesn't erase, or smudge on the page.

There's so many more reasons, but I absolutely adore my planner. This is the 2nd year in a row I have gotten one, and I've even tried other planners, but end up coming right back to the Mormon Mom Planner.
